Advertising on Google is done by placing your ads in front of people who are actively searching for a term or “keyword” related to your product of service.
You are charged each time someone clicks on your ad. When they click on your ad it takes them to the web page you want them to see that will lead them to an engagement and making a purchase from you.
Let’s look at an example of a company that sells Pool Supplies. They want their ads to show up in front of people who are actively searching for information about “pool supplies”. We don’t know exactly what type of information they are looking for, we just know they are they are searching the term “Pittsburgh Pool Supplies”.
The ads show up at the Top of the Results page and along the right hand side of the page similar to Facebook ads. The results in the middle of the page are organic search results. These are important but we will save that for a different time.
When someone gets the result for searching “Pittsburgh Pool Supplies” they have the option of clicking on the links that most appeal to them. There is no guarantee that your ad will get clicked, you have to have a great headline, and body content that intrigues the prospect.
