Many business owners fail to recognize how important their online reputation is.  It can make the difference between increased sales and a dramatic drop in sales.  Just one negative comment or review is enough to dramatically affect your online reputation.  Once your reputation takes a hit, you will likely see decrease in website traffic and the amount of sales you would normally experience.  Below you will find some ways in which you can monitor and manage your online reputation.

If you notice a negative post on any of your social media pages, you should address that comment immediately.  The quicker you act to remedy the situation the less likely the unhappy customer will be to post any additional comments.  If you choose to ignore the comment and not reply, the individual may continue to post additional comments, which can have a dramatically negative effect on your online reputation.  The key is to act quickly and do everything within your power to solve the problem.

Taking a proactive approach to your online reputation can provide you with valuable insight into the type of content being published about your business and brand.  The more involved you are in the process the easier it will be to notice any newly published negative content.  Once you are aware of this content, the key is to act quickly and decisively.  This will ensure that the negative content is taken care of and any further searches will present people with positive reviews and content.

There is nothing that can damage a business more than negative comments being posted online.  However, if you are proactive and continue to monitor your online reputation, you will be better prepared to deal with these situations as they occur.
